What is a CB Radio?
A CB radio (short for Citizens Band) is a short-distance two-way radio used by citizens to communicate with other drivers, or even individuals, around them. So basically, it’s a two-way portable radio that allows you to talk to other people within a limited range of your vehicle.
What are some reasons you should consider buying an Amateur CB Radio?
There are many reasons to purchase a CB radio. You don’t need an Amateur Radio license to operate a CB, but they’re still highly useful and fun devices. We’ve got you covered with some of our top reasons to pick up an Amateur CB, as well as why we think you should consider investing in one of these cheap radios that can be picked up for under $300.
How does the Stryker SR-447HPC2 CB/Ham Combo Radio stack up?
If you want to buy a CB radio, there are two options: you can purchase a base station or an amateur model. Base stations are designed for use in cars and don’t have any of their own power; they draw it from your car battery. Amateur CB radios have their own power supply, so can be used anywhere—they’re great for people who spend time in a fixed location (like out on a farm) and need to communicate with vehicles that may not be nearby. Of course, every CB/Ham combo radio will include both Amateur and Citizens Band capabilities, but it’s important to choose one that has good range if you plan on talking more than 100 feet away from your car.
The Best Features of this Product
CB radios allow us to speak over long distances, and that is an amazing power we have at our fingertips. Without them, people would not be able to communicate with one another. The reasons why are outlined below: Amazingly Long Range - The range of your radio has a large impact on what kind of capabilities you can expect from it. More range means more distance between you and your friend, family member or relative.
Things We Liked About This Product
One of our favorite features on Stryker CB radios is that they have a dual output power that allows you to run off your vehicle’s battery or external power. This means that you can use your CB radio when you’re out in your boat or RV without having to worry about running out of batteries. Additionally, we really appreciated how easy it was to program using only two controls on each of these radios—it makes setup quick and easy for anyone.
Things We Didn't Like About This Product
The microphone of a CB radio is one of its most important components. The mic picks up your voice and projects it through your speakers to ensure others can hear you clearly and with minimal distortion. However, some mics on CB radios are more sensitive than others and can pick up background noises such as wind or car traffic. When other drivers hear these extraneous sounds coming from your CB, they may consider you a nuisance.
The Final Word
There are a lot of variables that go into making a final decision on which CB radio to buy. However, if you consider your budget and other circumstances before you make a purchase, it can lead to less frustration in finding one that fits your needs. Don’t let low cost keep you from getting all of the features you want! You’ll need to consider how far away from your location and power source you will be using it.
